Wiggle Room
Monday May 11th, 7-10pm
at Hit Me Up
How to use movement to your advantage within the scope of a rope scene, through the lens of a contemporary dancer.
This is a task based workshop exploring how rope can help or hinder movement in your rope scene, informed by contemporary improvisational dance techniques. In this class, participants will discover how body handling, physical manipulation, intentional touch, and body to body contact can facilitate deeper connection and smoother scene setting within your rope practice.
While all levels of rope and dance experience are welcome, please note that there will be very little explicit instruction on how to tie specific frictions or patterns. This class is meant to expand and inform your existing rope and/or movement practice.

NEW CLASS: Maintenance
Thursday, June 11th 7-10pm
at Temple
When do we choose low hands versus high hands? What does it actually mean to “set” someone’s shoulders? What do you do with that stubborn bit of leftover rope at the end of your tie? When should we reinforce something, and when should we…probably not? And what the heck should our tension really be?
This is a space for curiosity, iteration, and investigation. Bring your questions. Bring a notebook. Bring a mindset ready to tie · untie · repeat.
Syd doesn’t have all the answers—but she’s excited to get delightfully nerdy in the process of finding them together.
This offering is a hands-on and practice time, lightly guided by Syd.

TK Deep Dive! at Flower and Snake
Friday, June 19th 7pm
at Flower and Snake in Seattle
This class/lab hybrid, designed based of her regular lab at Temple, is designed for folks who have already learned the scaffolding of a stemless TK structure and want to refine it.
When do we choose low hands versus high hands? What does it actually mean to “set” someone’s shoulders? What do you do with that stubborn bit of leftover rope at the end? When is a third rope necessary—and when is it just extra? And what the heck should our tension really be?
This is a space for curiosity and iteration. Bring your questions. Bring a notebook. Bring a mindset ready to tie · untie · repeat.
Syd doesn’t have all the answers—but she’s excited to get delightfully nerdy in the process of finding them together.

A Very Technical Weekend at Flower and Snake
Saturday and Sunday June 20th - 21st
at Flower and Snake in Seattle
A suspension level intensive exploring static forms from a technical perspective. Through in-depth guided instruction and hands-on practice we will examine the artistry and function of classic shapes within Semenawa techniques. Emphasis will be placed on creative expression, sustainability in suspension, recreatability, in-scene communication, aesthetic considerations, and awareness of safety and risk considerations.
This workshop is an ultra-nerdy deep dive into the how and why of rope technique. This workshop is semenawa, and the exploration will be challenging for bottoms and tops alike.
Students will refine their rope handling, tension, control, precision, and flow, while continuing to build the scaffolding of their rope technique. Those in rope will be guided through body awareness considerations and styles of bottoming and communication, with the goal of tailoring each exercise perfectly to each pair.

Sadistic Floor Rope at Flower and Snake
Friday, June 26th 7pm
at Flower and Snake in Seattle
This class explores several simple but sadistic floor-based ties designed to cause (consensual) distress with our favorite medium, rope. We'll explore a variety of ties, ranging from subtle discomfort to deep intensity, as well tools, techniques, and conversations to build your perfectly sadistic scene. Whether you’ve just tied your first single column or are a seasoned rigger, these “quick and dirty” ties are just that–quick, simple, and sure to have your bottom sweating in seconds. Beyond technique, we'll also unpack through guided discussion about what it means to play with pain -- Why do we choose sadomasochism? How do we care for each other during and afterwards? Students are meant to leave
the workshop with the tools to play sadistically, responsibly, and intentionally. -

A Very Hot Weekend at Flower and Snake
Saturday and Sunday June 27th - 28th
at Flower and Snake in Seattle

This workshop will bounce between structural and technically grounded exercises and others more based in exploration and improvisation. Our goal is to find rope that truly makes us tick in a delightfully sensual, sadistic, and playful way. Emphasis will be placed on creative expression, sustainability in suspension, awareness of safety and risk considerations, and how to find PLAY within these techniques.

at Temple
A detailed and nerdy deep dive into how and why suspendable harnesses work in the air, and how to create them.

We’ll focus on:
Adaptability and customization
Tension
Rope handling and flow
Awareness of safety and risk considerations
This workshop is designed for folks who feel comfortable tying on the floor, who are confident with their fundamentals (see below prerequisites), who are looking to move their practice towards suspension. ImPartial: Transitions in Partial Suspension
Tuesday July 28th 7-10pm
at Hit Me Up
We often think of dynamic transition sequences as being exclusive to complex, complicated, full suspensions. This workshop is to debunk that mindset.
In this class, students will learn sequences with multiple transitions in close proximity to the floor. Explorations will include in-air body handling, active vs passive movement, in-rope decision making, and intentional pacing to create fluid, expressive pathways between shapes. Emphasis will be placed on creative expression, aesthetic choice-making, sustainability, clear communication, and play. Students will leave with adaptable frameworks they can integrate into their own tying style—whether or not full suspension is part of their regular practice.
